From cleaning up roadsides and planting pollinating flowers to recycling used electronics and swapping clothes, Gore Associates collectively dedicated hundreds of hours to Earth Day activities this April in the communities where they live and work.
Our Grassroots Sustainability Network drives local action in support of Gore’s broader sustainability strategy, reinforcing the impact of thinking globally and acting locally. To celebrate Earth Day, the group planned a variety of volunteer initiatives in Cecil County and neighboring areas.
Associates picked up 320 pounds of trash off the beaches on the Elk Neck peninsula State Park Beach, cleaned Appleton and Barksdale Roads, pulled invasive species at the Elk Creek Watershed, volunteered at Fair Hill Nature Center and gave old items new life at several repair and recycling events. More activities will follow throughout the week, including planting flowers at our Cherry Hill pollinator garden.
At Gore, we take our role seriously as responsible stewards in our communities. Beyond our Earth Day events, we provide Associates with up to eight hours of paid time off per year to volunteer. We also offer grant opportunities for Associates who volunteer at least 20 hours per year with eligible nonprofits. This Earth Day is a reminder of the impact businesses can have by encouraging community engagement and volunteerism.
