Gore Associates Celebrate Earth Day

Gore’s Grassroots Sustainability Associate Network extended Earth Day activities from just one day to an entire week of volunteer efforts in the communities around our facilities. In Cecil County, MD, Gore Associates spent hours removing trash from North East Beach at Elk Neck State Park. The team collected 15 bags of trash and disposed of three bulk items littering the site. Associates also collected six bags of trash along the Gore-adopted section of Appleton Road. And on nearby Barksdale Road, 10 bags of trash were collected and 70 gallons of aluminum cans, and 75 gallons of glass and plastic were recovered and recycled.

Another team of Associates built a fence around the children’s garden at Fair Hill Nature Center. Additionally, they mulched, improved the many garden beds around the property and trimmed trees.

Gore Associates also participated in educational events at the Delaware Solid Waste Authority, removed invasive species at the nearby Stroud Water Research Center and planted trees.
