Gore Expands Sampling Efforts on Appleton Campus

Recently, Gore began testing at locations surrounding our Appleton South facility to determine whether certain PFAS are present in groundwater underneath the facility. This work is being performed in accordance with detailed plans that Gore presented to, and were approved by, the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). Arcadis, a global environmental consulting firm, is leading the testing.

Pursuant to the work plan, groundwater sampling will take place across an estimated seven locations surrounding the facility. During this testing, Associates and residents may notice drilling and other equipment and activity at Appleton South. We expect that the work will be completed by December 2023.

This sampling activity is part of a step-wise, data-driven approach, where we will utilize sampling results and science to guide our ongoing efforts. We will continue to work with the MDE and plan to make decisions on next steps using the data we collect.
